DoApp 'myLite' iPhone App Surges in Apple's App Store Rankings

Minneapolis (PRWEB) July 16, 2008 -- An app released just a few days ago on the Apple iTunes App Store, the myLite? Color Strobe and Flashlight by Doapp, has surged in Apple's "Top Free Apps" ratings. As of Wednesday morning at 10:00 am Central, myLite has jumped to the #23 most downloaded app of the estimated 500 free apps already available, coming from well below the top 100 rankings just a few days ago. DoApp, a startup that's a registered developer of Apple iPhone applications, announced on Saturday that it was dropping the price to free.

"We definitely hit a nerve," said Joe Sriver, founder and CEO of DoApp. "We knew we had the best app of this type -- it's much more than just a flashlight -- and consumers are telling us we did the right thing. When you're convinced you have a great app, get it out there for free and let the people speak. Well, they sure have, because myLite just keeps surging above the others." The app is already ranked well ahead of much bigger-name free apps, including PayPal, Last.fm, Yelp, Twitterific, Typepad, and AOL's ShoZu and Truveo apps.

Other Ranking Metrics

In addition, the myLite app is the #2 most downloaded app in the iTunes App Store "Utilities" category. And late yesterday it was #15 "most highly rated" by consumers of ALL iPhone apps, free or paid, a number now estimated to be more than 2000 -- as ranked by Medialets, a firm that tracks iPhone app metrics: Medialets iPhone app rankings (http://www.medialets.com/app-store-metrics/?view=rating_average&range=21600) Their "most highly rated" ranking is based on reviews that consumers write on the app's iTunes App Store page.

The myLite app takes the hassle out of trying to find a flashlight in the dark or when the power goes out, and it also makes you the life of the party at rock concerts or the MacGyver on your camping trip. "No more digging for a flashlight only to find the batteries dead, or late night stubbed-toe incidents bumping into the coffee table," said Sriver. "Your iPhone is always at the ready."

But not only is this instant "night light" good for reading in the dark or finding a keyhole in a pinch, you can very simply adjust its light beam for both brightness and color with the two convenient "slider" controls. Make your light beam like fluorescent (cool) or incandescent (warm) light, night-vision red, or any color at all across the entire color spectrum - whatever your personal preference is at the moment. Use the Strobe feature to flash your light in any color at just the time interval you choose. Or flash your light continuously through the entire spectrum of colors with the Trippin' feature, which is great fun for kids or to dramatize any storytelling situation - not to speak of trippin' out at rock concerts. Consumers have even commented in their reviews that myLite can make the iPhone function as a "key light" for photography purposes.

The DoApp myLite app works with both the iPhone and iPod Touch and is available now at the Apple iTunes "App Store" for FREE. More information and a download link is available at myLite by DoApp Product Page (http://www.doapps.com/products/iPhone/myLite/#pr)
